November 2022

The Elmwood-Murdock School District has been allocated $138,959 as a part of the ARP ESSER III Grant.  Our goals and intent for these funds are as follows:

Addressing learning loss among students, including low-income students, children with disabilities, English Language Learners, racial and ethnic minorities, students experiencing homelessness, and children and youth in foster care, of the local educational agency, including by:

A. Administering and using high-quality assessments that are valid and reliable, to accurately assess students' academic progress and assist educators in meeting students' academic needs, including through differentiating instruction.

B. Implementing evidence-based activities to meet the comprehensive needs of students.

C. Providing information and assistance to parents and families on how they can effectively support students, including in a distance learning environment.

D. Tracking student attendance and improving student engagement in distance education.

Due to Covid-19 and based on feedback from parent surveys, we've identified the need to improve our Reading / ELA and Social Studies curriculum to meet the needs of ALL students in both in-school learning environments, as well as through remote learning opportunities during a time of school closure.  We will utilize these funds to purchase high quality instructional curriculum materials in Reading / ELA and Social Studies to meet the needs of our students.

Goal 1:

We have updated our Reading / ELA curriculum in grades K-6.  We have received $42,034 in ARP ESSER III funds to support this update. – Completed – September 2021.

Goal 2:

We have updated our Elementary Social Studies curriculum for the 2022-2023 school year.  We received $37,506 in ARP ESSER III funds to support this update.  Completed - September 2022.

Goal 3:

We are looking into the possibility of upgrading our bus transportation fleet.  We will replace one of our 59 passenger buses with a new 65 passenger bus, which will provide for more room on our buses to transport kids to and from school and to activities. We have $59,419 in ARP ESSER III funds to utilize for this and the school district's Depreciation Fund will cover the remaining costs. - Anticipated completion date - August 2023
