Elmwood-Murdock competed in the C2 District Speech competition on Wednesday, March 13th at Nebraska City Lourdes.  Elmwood-Murdock students performed their pieces in a variety of events in two rounds in hopes of making the Finals Round.  The students who participated were: Cody Bornemeier in Entertainment; Hayden Ernst in Extemporaneous speaking; Constence Baker and Rylee Hogue in Serious Prose; Kylee Wilson in Poetry; Morgan Jennings in Informative; Gus Pope and Noah Arent in Duet Acting; Ham Vidaurre and Molly Feile in Duet Acting; Caleb Jones in Persuasive; and Molly Feile, Ham Vidaurre, Gus Pope, Rylee Hogue, and Noah Arent in Oral Interpretation of Drama.  Mr. Gary Grinvalds and Mr. John Grinvalds are the coaches.

We had five finalists that day and three of those events qualified for the State Speech Competition in Kearney, NE on Friday, March 22.  The results were: Morgan 6th place; Gus and Noah 6th place; Ham and Molly 3rd place; Molly, Ham, Gus, Rylee, and Noah 3rd place; and Caleb 1st place.  Those who placed 3rd or higher in the final round qualified to go to the state competition.
